Funny how some ideas just don't take off... An example of great, quirky up-cycling design from the 60's... Not sure it would take off even now, but seeing the sad sight of shacks being made out of coca cola (et al) crates in Africa (whole other debate there!), maybe it'd be a good idea someplace...

Wave farm to be built in Portugal
Portugal builds world's first commercial wave farm! I wonder how many others around the corner... Interestingly the same firm ( Pelamis Wave Power - explained here on the BBC), is also launching off Scotland having been talked about for quite a while (found a ref here ; this is what wikipedia has wave power & wave farm).
Won't mention the much depated Severn Estuary Barrage in the UK which is based on tidal energy, but a huge environmental debate is ensuing.Reuters.com - Japan Cars' Green Mile
Japan heavily investing in green car technologies - apparently plug in hybrid's still 10 years away... (as seen on reuters)
